About Gifts to Non-Profit Organizations
* A long-standing trend among individuals is to make memorial gifts to non-profit organizations through a bequest in their will.

What Is a Bequest?
A bequest is property left to someone through a last will and testament.

How do I leave a legacy for an organization?
You can leave a legacy through your will or trust, using a bequest,
designating an amount or percent, specific property, or assets
remaining after providing for your family.  You also can designate a charity as the beneficiary of some or all of an insurance policy or retirement plan.

An appropriate form of words in the Bequest catagory of you Will would be:
"I give the sum of $X,XXX.XX [in figures (numbers) and words] to the (Name of the non-profit organization) for the general purposes of the (Name of non-profit organization). I direct that the executor or other proper officer for my will shall administer a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy."
