What is an estate and what does it consist of?
An estate is essentially everything a person owns. It would include a home, a camp, apartment buildings, condominiums, and any other real estate. An estate would also include all financial holdings such as bank accounts, certificates of deposit, stocks, bonds, retirements benefits, pension plans, life insurance policies, and cash that you may have at the time of your passing. Lastly, all personal and household possessions would also be included in an estate such as automobiles, boats, recreational vehicles, furniture, jewelry, collectibles, and clothing. Even if you think that you do not have an estate, when you add up everything that you own you may be wealthier than you think.
